Glass of fine Chardonnay in hand, a wickedly witty wine-quaffer commented whimsically that “Wine improves with age, the older I get the more I like it.”

Well, Jaci Less, the new co-owner of the local wine boutique, Wine and Company, no doubt agrees with this as she has spent the past ten years in the wine and hospitality industry and she keeps improving all the time!

Many locals will remember this attractive ball of energy, always on the go at Bientang’s Cave Restaurant during the 90’s and later as Manager at The Wine Village where she kept things humming for almost three years whilst gaining invaluable experience under the wing of Paul and Cathy du Toit. Jaci subsequently joined the team of renowned vintners at Middelvlei in Stellenbosch, gaining more valuable experience alongside the Mombergs, before taking on the long overdue challenge of owning and running her own wine boutique, purchased from well-known winemaker Bartho Eksteen and his wife Suné.
Thus, Jaci’s background and experience in the wine and related industries eminently qualify her to advise her customers in assisting them to choose the best wine for any occasion. She also compiles and recommends excellent wine lists for hospitality businesses.

Jaci’s husband and co-owner Gavin, ably assists her in their new business over weekends where he puts his extensive marketing, sales and administrative experience to good use.

The Wine and Company offers an impressive range of the country’s finest wines ranging from R18.00 to R800.00 and regular wine tastings are held which have become a popular event amongst both locals and visitors. Jaci supplies restaurants, hotels, guesthouses and other outlets, besides meeting the specific needs of individual customers.
Free wine tastings are selectively offered at Wine and Company Mondays to Saturdays.

Moreover, the walls of Wine and Company are decorated with original paintings for sale by Jaci’s father, well-known local artist Neville Hickman.
